A turning point for growing organizations

A system built around your organization used to be out of reach. Now it's the smart choice.

For decades, custom software meant a team of programmers, a long project, a large budget, and a vendor you could never leave. AI-assisted development has changed all of that. I build systems to run your business, and portals for your customers, designed around how your people actually work. You own everything, and there are no per-user fees.

Record the work once. Everything else is produced from it.

Does this sound familiar?

Most organizations reach this point gradually. Spreadsheets, forms and email worked well at first, and then quietly became the business system.

  • The same information is typed into three or four spreadsheets, and they no longer agree.
  • Payroll, billing or reporting depends on the one person who knows how the spreadsheet works.
  • Approvals happen by email, and nobody can say for certain what has been approved or paid.
  • Your customers call and email for information you already have.

The usual answer

Why off-the-shelf software often isn't the fix

Packaged software is built for the average organization, not yours. You change how you work to fit it, pay for features you don't use, buy add-ons for the ones you need, and pay for every person who logs in, even once a month. Often the spreadsheets come back, running alongside it.

The better answer, now

Never held hostage, not even by me

The software, the data and the hosting account belong to you. Your system uses widely used open-source technology rather than a proprietary platform, and every rule is documented in plain language. Any qualified developer can maintain or extend it. You stay with me because the work is good, not because you have no choice.

What I build

A system to run the business

One record of the work: who did what, where and when. Approvals, payroll, billing and reports are produced from that record instead of being re-typed, and it feeds QuickBooks and your payroll company in the formats they accept.

A portal for your customers

Your customers sign in to see their own information, confirm or correct it, send requests and documents, and receive notices. It is built on the same records your staff use, so nothing is copied twice.

Why work with me

One accountable person

The person who learns how your organization works is the person who builds the system and answers the phone afterward.

No per-user fees

Add staff, sites or customers without your costs climbing. The system runs on a server you control for a few dollars a month.

Fixed prices

Each stage is quoted in advance, starting with a diagnostic whose findings you keep whether or not you go further.

Numbers you can check

Every figure is shown with the inputs behind it, and your current process keeps running until the new one matches it.

Still running Medical Manager?

I continue to write custom Data Merge programs, reports and data extracts for practices on Medical Manager, and I help practices leaving it take their data with them. Medical Manager services →

Who I work with

Organizations of roughly 5 to 150 people where many people record a little and a few people administer a lot: multi-site education and youth programs, staffing and placement, tutoring and home-based services, field service, nonprofits running programs across locations, and property management.

Most recently, I replaced a multi-site education organization's chain of forms and spreadsheets with a single system. Staff now record their work once, and payroll is produced from that record.

I work in person across Northeast Ohio and by video nationwide.
